यह (Amoebiasis) parasite से होने वाला infection है। Amoebiasis एंटामीबा हिस्टोलिटिका' या ई. हिस्टोलिटिका protozoan parasite की वजह से होता है। यह बिमारी किसी को भी हो सकता है। यह बिमारी उन लोगों में नार्मल है जहा पर स्वच्छता नहीं है। Amoebiasis infection से ऐसे पुरूष भी infected होते है जो समान लिंग वाले से यानी पुरूषों से सेक्स करते है, लेकिन उनमे लक्षण नहीं पाया जाता है।

इस बिमारी में सभी infected person बीमार नहीं होता है। इसके लक्षणों में ढीला पैखाना, पेट में मरोड़/ऐठन और पेट में दर्द ये सभी लक्षण शामिल है। Amoebiasis में dysentry का समस्या होता है, जिसमे पेट में दर्द, पैखाना में खून और बुखार ये सब भी होता है। Amoebiasis में rare cases में ई. हिस्टोलिटिका हमारे लिवर पर attack करता है जिसके वजह से फोड़ा बन जाता है।

सबसे पहले doctor आपसे आपके medical history और travel history पूछते है इसके बाद amoebiasis का संदेह कर सकते है। डॉक्टर आपका test करते है और देखते है की ई. हिस्टोलिटिका present है या नहीं। इस सबके अलावा डॉक्टर cyst का पता लगाते है जिसके लिए आपको कई दिनों तक अपना पैखाना का sample देना पड़ता है।
जब parasite intestine के बाहर फैलता है तो वह पैखाना में दिखाई नहीं देता। इस condition में liver की घावों का जाँच के लिए डॉक्टर ultrasound या CT scan के लिए suggest कर सकते है। अगर घाव दिखता है तो doctor लिवर में फोड़े का test कर सकते है, क्योंकि अगर फोड़ा है तो amoebiasis का severe form हो सकता है।
